The Globalized Sri Lankan Consumer

Hi all, this is my first blogging experience. Here I am posting on digital marketing, about globalized Sri Lankan consumer.

Simply globalization is the process of having interactions and integration beyond the physical or political boundaries. When comparing to the past, consumer has become much knowledgeable as seeking information from various sources such as internet, mass media, news papers etc. Before purchase something almost all the consumers tend to have an idea about the particular product. Most of the people used to search product information from web sites and make choices online and make purchases. Such transactions are taking place in a virtual market place. Therefore consumers are making transactions beyond the political or physical boundaries. Addition to that post purchase behavior of the consumers also globalized. After purchasing and consuming particular product modern consumers tend to make comments on those particular web sites, follow up the new creations and post negative and positive feedback.

Social media is a powerful tool for promotion products as more than 1.5 million Sri Lankans are face book users and around 25000 are active Twitter users. In the same time smart phones are doing a great task facilitating for web browsing where 15% of internet users are accessing from mobile. In this digital era consumers could be able to search all over the globe in a second. The world is becoming smaller with the increment of the knowledge of consumer. Because most of the consumers have made online information, satellite TV, mobile information, social media as part of their lives.
With the vast exposure to the global products and services consumers could be able to experience a higher standard of living. There consumers can choice a huge category of products and services. While gaining the knowledge, consumers are becoming more intelligent. At the same time marketers should be updated and should become digital marketers.
